About this position
Chalmers University of Technology is recruiting a Doctoral student for the European Marie Skłodowska-Curie training network FADOS in Christian Müller's group at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (REF 2025-0434). You join an international cohort of 17 doctoral students across 16 research groups in Europe working on doped organic semiconductors.
About us
FADOS (Fundamentals and Applications of Doped Organic Semiconductors) is a consortium of 8 universities, 4 research institutes, and 4 companies from EU countries, the UK and Switzerland. Its mission is targeted modification of semiconductor properties through doping, developing fundamental understanding and fabrication processes for organic electronic devices and sustainable functionalities.
Doctoral candidates participate in 7 network-wide events plus secondments and collaborations involving travel in several EU countries. The Müller Research Group focuses on physical chemistry and materials science of organic semiconductors, polymer blends and composites, and materials for wearable electronics and energy technologies.
About the research project
Your research goal is to establish how doping gradients can be used for spatial modulation of the electrical and mechanical properties of organic semiconductors, working closely with fellow doctoral students and postdocs at Chalmers and in FADOS. The role entails secondments in Spain, Germany and the US.
Who we are looking for
Profile: Master's in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science (or completing the degree); experience with organic electronics and/or polymer science; excellent collaboration skills; willingness/ability to travel within Schengen, the UK and the US; very good English scientific communication.
FADOS eligibility: at recruitment, in the first four years of the research career and without a doctoral degree; mobility rule—must not have resided or carried out main activity in Sweden for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to recruitment; any nationality.
What you will do
- Majority of time on own research and courses for scientific/professional skills
- Develop ideas and communicate scientific results orally and in writing
- Up to 10% departmental duties (e.g. undergraduate teaching)
Contract terms
- Fully funded from the start
- Starting salary 34,550 SEK per month (valid from 25 May 2025), including living, mobility, and family allowance (if applicable) per MSCA regulations for doctoral researchers
Application procedure
Apply via the official Chalmers vacancy page. Applications evaluated continuously. Deadline: 8 September 2026. Contact: Professor Christian Müller.
