About this position

The main objective is to improve existing methods for characterizing crack growth resistance in ductile materials. Use of sub-sized specimens in assessment of structural integrity is an area under strong development and includes issues such as geometry effects as well as transferability of laboratory results to actual components.

Job description
The position focus on experimental and computational fracture mechanics. A central issue in the work includes experimental testing of mini-CT specimens combined with numerical modeling. The main objective is to improve existing methods for characterizing crack growth resistance in ductile materials. Use of sub-sized specimens in assessment of structural integrity is an area under strong development and includes issues such as geometry effects as well as transferability of laboratory results to actual components.
The outcome of the project is foreseen to be an integrated testing and computational methodology that can be standardized according to regulatory perspectives. You will work in a research environment together with other researchers focused on material and fracture mechanics problems related to metals of interest to the process industry, where parts of the project will be carried out in collaboration with the Swedish nuclear industry.

Requirements
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
- In addition to your scientific skills and pedagogical ability, a relevant doctoral thesis, international experience and proficiency in English as it is needed in the daily work
Preferred qualifications
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
- Experience in mechanical testing
- Good knowledge and skill in nonlinear computational mechanics
- Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
- Collaborative abilities
- Independence
Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
About the employment
The position offered is for, at the most, two years.
A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
