About this position

Explore consequences of electrification and hybridization of truck powertrains on the whole freight system at Vehicle Engineering and Autonomous Systems.

Reference number: REF 2026-0360.

About us

Division of Vehicle Engineering and Autonomous Systems research supports transport systems integrating safety, energy efficiency, AI and automation across road, rail, aviation and maritime sectors.

About the research project

Vehicle-focused study of electrification of the transport system: develop mathematically sound tools connecting vehicle characteristics to national CO2 emission impact and quantify these using statistical relations—supporting policymakers and manufacturers.

What you will do

  • Combine statistical models and optimal control to describe truck operating environments and scale to regional/national transport systems
  • Analyse impacts on electricity demand, infrastructure, logistics, emissions and costs
  • Publish and present; collaborate with industry and public stakeholders
  • Contribute to teaching and supervision; project planning and communication

Contract terms

Temporary full-time employment for two years with possibility of one-year extension. Physical presence required; valid residence permit by start date.

Application procedure
