Conducted at the Machine Learning and Decision Making Lab (Data Science and AI), in collaboration with Automatic Control (Electrical Engineering) and Mathematical Optimization (Mathematical Sciences).
About the research project
Develop novel AI methods (reinforcement learning, deep learning, generative AI) for coordinating EV fleets during large-scale emergency evacuations under energy and infrastructure constraints, evaluated against mathematical optimization strategies.
What you will do
- Propose, develop and evaluate advanced ML models including RL for energy-aware EV fleet coordination
- Publish in leading venues
- Contribute to supervision of master’s and PhD students
Contract terms
Temporary full-time employment for two years, starting on January 1, 2027. Physical presence required; valid residence permit by start date.

Requirements
Mandatory
- Doctoral degree in computer science, AI, applied mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, or closely related field (met no later than employment decision)
- Strong research experience in AI, machine learning and optimization with publications in top-tier venues
- Strong programming skills, preferably Python and PyTorch
- Strong written and verbal English
Strengthening
- Publications in A* venues in AI/ML/data science
- Reinforcement learning, MDPs and/or control theory
- Fundamental and applied AI/ML research
