About this position
Are you interested in working with drug development with the support of competent and friendly colleagues in an international environment? Are you looking for an employer that invests in sustainable employeeship and offers safe, favorable working conditions? We welcome you to apply for a postdoctoral position at Uppsala University.
Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Uppsala University is a strong and international research environment. The department has about 85 employees and here, doctoral students, teachers, researchers and administrators work closely together in a creative and open environment.
The position will be based at the Translational PET Imaging research group at Uppsala University and Science for Life Laboratory. The research group focuses on development of molecular imaging methodologies for improved diagnosis, management and treatment of disease. The Translational PET Imaging research group is a part of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry.
Project description/Work Duties
Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) is associated to the progressive destruction of the beta cells in the pancreas. Emerging treatments include beta cell replacement by transplantation, but novel imaging technologies are needed to monitor the efficacy of such therapies. This postdoc project will develop novel DPP6 targeting PET imaging technologies for monitoring of beta cell mass, with a focus on translation towards early clinical development.
The postdoc will receive training in PET radiopharmaceutical development, in vivo molecular imaging technology and regulatory science. The exact description of the tasks depends on the individual skills and research interests of the applicant.
The main duties of the applicant are to participate in and lead research projects. The work duties can also include supervision of students, teaching and other departmental duties.
Requirements
We welcome applications from candidates that have (or soon will have) a PhD degree in pharmacy, biomedicine or related fields, within a maximum of three (3) years before the final application date. During certain circumstances, an earlier PhD can be acceptable. Certain circumstances include leave due to illness, parental leave, work in trade unions, etc.
The applicant must have excellent skills in communication and teamwork, and be fluent in English and Swedish. The applicant is expected to work independently and be able to take own initiatives. The assessment of applications is based primarily on the applicant's ability to conduct independent research based on scientific skill.
Additional qualifications
Previous experience in PET tracer development and/or research in the diabetes field is a merit. Documented courses in radiation protection and/or laboratory animal science are merits.
Instructions for Application The application can be written in English or Swedish. In this recruitment, we have replaced the personal cover letter with questions that you answer as part of your application. The answers will be used as part of the selection process. The application should also include a CV, a summary of your previous research experience (max 1 page), and copies of certificates of higher academic degrees and relevant courses (e.g. FELASA or radioprotection). Please provide a recommendation letter or the contact details (name, e-mail, phone number) for at least one reference such as previous employers or colleagues.
Selection process
Selection of candidates is based on qualifications, previous experience, and personal suitability.
About the employment
The employment is a temporary position of two years according to central collective agreement. Full time position. Starting date 1 January 2027 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala

Post-doctoral fellow in Organic Chemistry
Lund University
The subject of the position is organic chemistry at the interface with chemical biology. The research concerns the development of a modular chemical platform for targeted protein degradation in bacteria (BacPROTACs) as a new strategy against antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Bifunctional molecules are designed and synthesised to recruit endogenous bacterial proteolytic machinery, such as the ClpC:ClpP system, in order to selectively degrade essential proteins in drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus , rather than inhibiting them.
