Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?
At the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS), you will have the opportunity to lead and develop research at the forefront of neurodegenerative diseases, a field of major importance for the future of healthcare. The position involves close collaboration with clinical activities and international research environments. You will be part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary academic environment with a strong research profile and extensive educational responsibilities.
Description of the subject area
We are seeking a Professor of Neurogeriatrics, preferably with expertise in neuroimaging and other biomarkers for the early identification of brain changes in individuals at risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases. The subject area encompasses research and education on the underlying mechanisms and clinical manifestations of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease. The research includes translational implementation research and may involve, for example, neuroimaging techniques, fluid biomarkers and digital cognitive assessment methods. The research primarily concerns clinical aspects of neurodegenerative diseases, with an emphasis on diagnostic methods, prevention and treatment. Several research projects within the field involve the further development of neuroimaging methods, particularly positron emission tomography (PET), as well as other methods such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), cognitive assessment methods and the identification of biochemical biomarkers to understand disease progression and underlying mechanisms.
Your mission
You will be expected to lead and strengthen the strategic development of the field of neurogeriatrics within the department and the division, as well as contribute to teaching in neuroimaging at the division.
In addition to conducting and leading research at an internationally leading level, you will be expected to take responsibility for and contribute to the management of the division. You will also strengthen the research basis of education and further develop collaboration with clinical activities to facilitate implementation research within the field.
