Professorship of Gastroenterology and Hepatology 100 %

Start of employment 1 August 2028 or by agreement

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for a Professorship and Chair of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The professor will be appointed as head of the Department of Gastroenterology of Hepatology of the University Hospital Zurich and represents the subject in research, clinical care, and teaching.

We are seeking a dynamic, integrative, and collaborative individual with extensive clinical and scientific experience in gastroenterology or hepatology. A habilitation or an equivalent academic qualification, as well as board certification in gastroenterology (FMH), or an equivalent international qualification, are required. As the future head of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, we expect the successful candidate to possess a successful leadership track record as head or deputy head of a clinical unit at a university hospital. We are looking for a participative and integrative leader with proven experience in fostering collaborative, interdisciplinary teamwork. You are able to connect teams across different departments, establish a culture of mutual respect, and actively contribute to the advancement of research, teaching, and clinical care.

The University of Zurich offers exceptional conditions for cutting-edge medical research. With its four University Hospitals, the University of Zurich provides access to extensive patient populations, interdisciplinary re-search networks, and clinical expertise across all age groups and specialties. Its proximity to ETH Zurich offers additional opportunities for collaboration in computational medicine, bioengineering, data science, and AI-driven medicine. As a result, the Zurich location offers a translational ecosystem that spans from basic research to clinical application.

German language skills at level B2 of the common European framework of reference for languages should be available or must be acquired within a reasonable period of time.
